You know there are many kinds of Parents out there I know of at least 3 of them .

There are the parents that want to be teenagers again. I knew a girl that yelled at her mom for wearing one of the girl's shirts.

Those types of parents are pretty pathetic. They're just becoming more and more aware of their impending deaths, and they try to act young to stay young and therefore more alive.

no my favorite type to hate is the ons that think there child can do no wrong I mean when I was 10 I had this friend he was great but me and him had my brother come and join us on this exploration well it was 10 a clock at night and when we got home our parents were looking for us and his parents oh my god there like you ok oh my lord and then they said dont be intimidated by him

Perhaps "hate" should not be used.
Let this be a reflective (and better worded) topic for parental skills, and parental judgements in general.

I personally don't put TOO much weight on the parents.
Sure, parents can have a huge effect on children.
But the final decision to be swayed or controlled in any sort of way is up to the child him/herself.

First, let me note that my example was not an example of hatred. I was simply stating a type of parent I had observed, and it was actually quite the comical situation. The particular mom I described is a great parent to 2 daughters, and is a great person as well.

And now:
Parents stop being the key figures in a child's life once adolescence is reached. At that time, the peer group(s) of the child is/are more influential in the decisions that the child makes. Although, if we were to go along with Freud (that nutjob), we would say that the parental impact would be greater as far as the length and depth of the matter goes.

I, personally, have to agree with my HS psych teacher, Mr. Bradstreet, in that life is about CHOICES. Every action is performed following some choice. You can choose the level of impact of your parents and your childhood, you can choose the level of impact that your peers have upon you, and you can choose to behave any certain way if you want to enough, regardless of upbringing.

And I do think that parents should be cut some slack. As with anything, parenting is a trial-and-error process. *hopefully by your youngest kid, you'll have things right* The best anyone can do is learn from their mistakes and the mistakes of others, so the only way to end the types of parenting that seem to be so annoying...is to not let yourself become one of those parents...but there's nothing you can do about the parenting style of others without serious intervention. *like an appearance on the Maury show*

Of course, what do I know about parenting? I'm only 19 (in 16 days)...but I do have 2 younger brothers that I've always looked out for, even if they don't realize it. And I've seen mistakes made by my parents and the parents of those that I know. And I'm taking notes, creating my philosophy on parenthood before that day gets here - so I'm not caught totally unawares when it does.

you know what iDigress you can be also like if your child neglects you and I know of many moms who do try to act young so they can relate to thier children and they can be annoying but also those choldren then can feel embarassed and eventually those children realize omg i totally ignored my parents thats why they tried acting like me whoever some children realize this when there in thier mid 20s then its a little to late to try and accept thier parents
